The Human Rights Campaign launched a website today to confront right-wing lies and distortions repeatedly used to defeat LGBT equality measures. EndtheLies.org will counteract these mistruths with respectful dialogue and grassroots action.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

What's black and white and red all over? Why, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, of course, with their white "ear brassieres," black nuns' habits and colorful veils (which only fully professed Sisters are allowed to wear). These in-your-face individuals in flowing black robes (or dresses or leather chaps or maybe just a thong), sparkles and whiteface are fierce, fabulous, funny, enormously creative, sometimes a little bit scary and impossible to miss as they carry out their mission of raising money for good causes and ridding the LGBT community of guilt. ("No more guilt!")

A topic many in the LGBT community don’t think about often is aging. We can accept it, but American society, unfortunately, still isn’t comfortable with “the gays.” Thus, when gay seniors need to find a retirement home, they are often shoved back into the closet. Significant others of many years are torn apart as they aren’t legally recognized as a couple with rights. What happens to you if you’re in your 60’s or 70’s with no biological family? How do you find affordable living arrangements that don’t muzzle a major part of your identity or life?

My Brain Hurts!

While it was funny as hell when Monty Python ran the recurring skit of men with handkerchiefs on their heads screaming that their “brains hurt,” a new study from the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy at the Boston School of Medicine finds that brain trauma from concussions suffered by athletes is deep, lasting and stunningly debilitating – for life.

The Times, They Are A Changing: Out and Greek on College Campuses
