Bootilicious!

Butt Hey Bobby,

I just lost 15 lbs. I am a 42 year old man currently 175 lbs at 5'11". I lost most of that weight from my behind, and my ass looks saggy like an old man's ass! What can I do to get a nice bubble ass?

Congratulations on your weight-loss! 15 pounds is a great accomplishment.

Concerning your issue with the loss of your rear...you have come to the right guy. Though I am as insecure with my looks as the next guy, there is one part of my body that I know looks pretty good: my butt. I really didn’t know I had a nice ass until a few years after being a dancer and people would comment on it. When I started to do weight training that just added to the compliments. Now I’m sure a lot of my bootiliciousness comes from genetics and my German/Mexican background. Add my dance training and all of those plies and leaps to the mix and “POW!” POWER BOOTIE!!

We are actually the same age so don’t fear, you should be able to firm up that butt given that you have healthy knees and back. If you have back or knee problems then it will limit the amount of work your glutes will be able to do making the dream of a bubble butt quite difficult. Otherwise, the following exercises should help perk up that bottom. Just don’t blame me when your butt gets black and blue from all of the pinching and slapping.

Perform 10-12 reps; 3-4 sets.

1. Squats: THE BEST exercise for total leg and butt development. To really get the glutes involved squat down low and squeeze the glutes by pushing your hips slightly forward at the top of the movement. Make sure your knees are always aligned with your feet never letting them go past your toes.

2. Lunges: I prefer walking lunges because the fact that you have to push off the back leg to propel yourself forward really fires the gluteal muscle fibers.

3. Dead Lifts: This exercise targets the glutes and the hamstrings. Every time I do this exercise my butt is quite sore the next few days. Keep your feet close together and while holding a weighted bar slightly bend your legs as you lean forward from the waist. As you return to a standing position make sure to squeeze that butt!

4. Step Ups: Grab a couple dumbbells and a bench. Place one foot on top of the bench. Step up and then down. Easy but effective!
