If You Think It's Sexy, Show Us!
"A white trash affectation."
"Hottest thing in the world."
"I would rather eat a 100 pounds of horse shit!"
Seems like one story touched a nerve with a lot of folks! With few exceptions everyone had very clear views on the subject.
And just what got everyone all worked up?
Tattoos!
That's right, the idea of some skin art got many of you talking and the majority of people were very cut and dry on the subject. (For those of you who hate them you may want to stop reading now.)
Not only did we receive numerous comments to the story but we also had a few of you sending us pics of your tattoos. Since a large number of you LOVE them we thought we would open it up to all who wanted to share their tats with the rest of us.
If you have a great tattoo and want to show it off, send us a photo, along with your gay.com member name, to featureme@planetoutinc.com.
We know most people have a reason for getting one so we'd love to hear the story of why you got your tattoo but please keep it 250 words or less.
Check out our other member photo albums!
Tacky.

My tats are representative of my native american heritage. They have a theme and are based on tribal art and images which are sacred or representative of my culture.

I always love tattoos... I think it is the hottest thing you can get on your body (if you got it done right)... So SEXY!

Tattoos can be a very beautiful peice of body art or can be a very unsightly waste of good ink. all i can say is dont trust anyone who 1. doesnt look like they have experience in artwork itself not only tattoing the skin.
2. those who are self procaliamed tattoo shop artist that dont have any professional ability once so ever.
Now im not saying there are not plenty of tatto shops out there who dont have great artist to offer you what you want but my main point is like your mom or grandma would say once you get it youll have it for the rest of your life unless you are willing to shell out stacks to have it removed.

Simply, tattoos are future regret made manifest. All the straight retirement homes will be stuffed with Grandmas Tiffany and Laquida while the gay ones will feature a saggy tattooed freak show.
Porn is obsessed with them (and so are the imitators who watch them). It's like someone smeared shit on themselves. Case and point: Chad Hunt.
Message: Buy old porn. :-)

Tattoos can be very attractive, if done right, some though, like whole body art, tends to be a bit too much.

Many people may disagree, but I think that tattoos are trashy. I have seen people who appear to be classy with tattoos and I think it automatically cheapens their appearance. I wanted a tattoo when I was younger, but I am so thankful that I never got one. I think that they are idiotic and impulsive, and one with tattoos is likely to regret having them once they reach a certain age.

I have 9 Different Tattoos I think they are sexy and also a expression of my opinion. Why does it matter if someone has a tattoo or not. One tattoo doesn't mean that someone is trash or not. Does it? If it does then I think our Society has went way down hill.

Fact is, one's body is their own and have the right to do with it as they choose. And if they do choose to get a tattoo and later regret it, so what, they can be removed, altered, or covered up. It's not like chopping off an appendage. Besides, when you get old and wrinkled and your tattoo is no longer recognizable, who the hell is gonna see it anyway!! I would be more concerned over the wrinkles and livespots than a saggy tat :)

I've never seen a tattoo and thought, "Gee, that looks better."
Especially back tattoos. I mean if YOU didn't want to look at it, why the hell do you think I would.
You have the freedom to adorn your body as you see fit as I have the freedom to judge you.
And yes, tattoos make you look like trash or a porn star or a fast-food clerk...or all of the above.

Tattoos are super sexy super hot and super erotic...I started with one small one in 1999 and today I have 8. With each one they get bigger and more intricate. Each one has special meaning and is very much a part of who I am and where I have been. Tattoos tell a story and can be very much a depiction of ones own trials and triumps.

nuttin "sexy" 'bout a tat...cheap...tacky...silly...NOT art in any way shape or form...junk...
the ONLY thing WORSE is piercing body parts that get in the way of sex (pierced nips, dick,lip)....disgusting.
I have met MORE people who regret EVER having tats than those who don't.
I guess it's:
"Beauty is in the I of the beholder." &
"Beauty is only skin deep." &
"Looks are deceiving - til they get negged."

I have learned to respect other individual's decisions. A person's decision to get a tat is something that resembles who they are and what they have gone through. I respect when others are not afraid to be themselves and show who they truly are. It would be nice if all of us viewed it as an addition to someone's character and accept them for who they are. =)

Replace the word "tattoo" with "gay marriage" in the responses. Not so fun to call someone else's choice "disgusting" or "against god" anymore, is it?
Why doesn't anyone follow the rules we learned in kindergarten anymore??! Why does everything have to be so inflammatory and hyperbolic these days?!
Tattooed skin is still skin. It cuts, it bleeds, it hurts.
How does some ink on someone's skin make you sick or repulsed? How does the sight of 2 men kissing make people sick or repulsed?
I don't get it. I just don't get it. You all should be ashamed.

Of far more urgency and concern is the number above who display near illiteracy with the English Language. Did they miss class while getting their tattoos? Illiteracy won't cut it, and generally, neither will tattoos.

When it comes to men, certain men (who seem rather shy and reserved), to me it's like this very sexy sign of virility, strength. A little open mindedness as well.
Especially a guy who has to hide it under a suit and tie.

I watched my father shoot and murder my mother right in front of me as a young child, so when I turned 18 I got a cross tattoo with her name in it as a personal way to always remember. If that's wrong then I'd hate to see your version of right. So why don't you all just mind your business and keep your distasteful opinions to yourself.

To some degree, tatoos are like spandex. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Moderation is a good thing. The line hasn't been crossed so much as leapt over with some of the tatts around these days....sleeve tatoos, words across one's shoulders. Its aesthetically displeasing to me. I'm so looking forward to this fad being over. My next investment is going to be in tattoo removal technology.

i personally think it is hot to see a tattoo or two on a man. when they go for the sleeve tats or more, then it gets gross. the piercings above the nipples or also uncalled for and look silly. a man with a pierced nipple is a great turn on though.
Posted by: menforme | May 02, 2009 at 07:28 PM
I think tattoo's are hot. if you don't like them, shut the hell up, don't date anyone with them and then don't get them yourself. end of the story. white trash? no way! I would say the people who think they are white trash, themselves are probably white trash and close-minded.

Tats are a personal expression and I think that those who wish to get one made that personal decision to show their individuality outward. After all they are our bodies and we may do with them as we wish. It is also my personal belief that those who think they are tack and wrong are those who dont have the balls to get one. Yes its painful, but thats part of the experience. I only have two, my zodiac on my ankle and a pentagram on my inner wrist, they hurt like hell but the end result and the meaning behind them are greater than any pain they may have caused, cheers to all my tat brothers and sisters and jeers to the jealous haters.

I do agree that tattoo's are a personal choice. Some people have them to remember someone specal, or a gift to yourself. I've have three tatt's, one is on my right shoulder of a woodpecker head with a cigar to remeber my grandfather. The other two were gifts to myself for surviving the first 2 years of college. And for the one's that don't like tatt's keep your mouths shut.

Something we as a community need to learn is that everyone is different, and if we want tolerance we need to learn it ourselves. I for one love my tattoo's, they are a symbol my spiritual journey through life. Several comments have been made that they are white trash affectations, and as someone else put it idiotic and impulsive, I disagree. I spent a great deal of time and energy on choosing those which best suit me, several years of thought does not constitute impulsive. I also didn't miss literary classes because I was out having my tattoo's worked on. If you don't like them don't look at them, I didn't get them for you or anyone else. I got them to remind me of where I've been and where I'm going in this life. I used to think poorly of tattoos;
now I find some sexy and turn on.
I do worry about how some may feel
when they age, but that is more
their problem than mine. I think
that I would discourage but not
prohibit my children from them.
So far as being "white trash," what
about Blacks and Asians with them?

Unfortunately, tattoos have become trendy, and trendy is anathema to me.
Regardless of style or quantity, the QUALITY of the work is or should be of paramount concern. Bad tattoos look BAD - period, regardless of who they are on. As an example, look at the ultra-shitty tat on the upper arm of Angelina Jollie (a list of her kids birthdays I think). Here we have an incredibly beautiful woman with this horrendous shit stain on her body! With all her money and high aesthetic I really don't understand it, unless she let her kids do the tattooing.
Full sleeves or merely a simple zodiac sign, I don't care. It all depends on the person wearing it. Some people look absolutely sexy in ink and some people look utterly ridiculous.
Just like with fashion and hair styles, I can tell if the tattooed person is a genuine individualist or a trend chasing wannabe.
Unfortunately today, most are the latter for which the former must suffer through approximation.
Trend-oids ruin everything for everyone

Wow, for a gay forum there sure is a lot of intolerance.

Some tats are cool, some are just butt ugly. I have 3... the only "visable" one is on my left shoulder, a fairly attractive rose, which I've had for over 25 years. However... I find that I am not so keen to show it anymore. No, I don't wish that I never did it. It's just not as important as it once was.

Y'know what's trashy and likely to induce regret in the future?
Hatred and judgement.
So much of it on this forum! It's amazing!
