A Healthy New Year’s Resolutions
Another year is coming to an end. Can you believe it? I swear it seems
like it was only a few weeks ago that I was recovering from the big
blow out for 2008. Going out dancing with friends, drinking a few too
many glasses of champagne, and searching for that ever- elusive
midnight kiss. (Which only seems to ever happen in movies.) Oh, and of
course making a new year’s resolution.
2008’s resolution was to be more aggressive when it comes to meeting men. It was also 2007’s and 2006’s. And probably will be 2009’s. It comes at no surprise that most people make their health their #1 resolution for the New Year. However, just like my dating life, it falls flat about a month into the New Year. The reason is because most resolutions are either too vague or too big. If you are one of the millions of people out there who plan on making 2009 your year to get in shape then follow these simple rules:
- Make short-term and long-term goals. “I’m going to join a gym” is a goal you can attain right away. “I’m going to work out 3 times a week” is a goal that you can attain often. Both of these examples will give you a sense of accomplishment, which in turn will motivate you to stay committed to your resolution. Short-term goals can evolve with time. Perhaps by week 8 you have been consistently going to the gym 3 times a week, you may decide to re-define your short-term goal to four days a week. “I’m going to lose 20 pounds by the summer” is a good example of a long-term goal. By focusing on short-term goals you will eventually reach your long-term goal.
- Tell someone your resolution. By sharing what you plan to accomplish in the New Year you will have someone who can hold you accountable. Since getting in shape is your resolution it would be best to choose someone who is already committed to the fitness lifestyle.
- If you stumble, pick yourself up, brush the dirt off, and get back on track. There’s no shame in missing a workout or two (or three). I’ve done it and every other gym member has done it. The only difference between someone who is fit and one who isn’t is that the fit person doesn’t let missing a week of workouts stop him.
- Treat yourself to something special throughout the year as a reward for sticking to your resolution. Whether it be a massage every month, new workout gear, or a nice meal out with gym buddies, pat yourself on the back often and say “good job” with a little something.

One resolution I have been trying to battle is kicking energy drinks. I usually drink 3 to 4 daily so i have been searching for alternatives and recently found this daily health booster called EBOOST. It provides the energy I need throughout the day and only contains 5 calories, great for the bod. If anyone else has had the same troubles try it out heres the link eboost.com
